Q: What happens if you leave self-tan on too long?

Nothing! A lot of self-tans have been designed so you can apply them in the evening and the colour will develop overnight. You don’t have to wash it off within eight hours – just wash it off once you’ve achieved the level tan colour you want.

How long after shaving can you self-tan?

The general rule of thumb is shaving 24 hours before applying self-tan. This allows your hair follicles to close back up so that you’re not left with dark dots on your skin. Some people decide to shave then exfoliate on the night of applying self-tan, but you can do whatever works best for you. As we said, most people find that 24 hours before works best.

Why won’t self-tan take to my skin?

Do some areas of your body, like your legs, appear lighter than the rest of your body despite applying the same amount of tan? The reason for this is because these areas of your body have thinner skin. We recommend doubling the layers of tan applied in these areas to ensure a consistent colour all over.

Will self-tan come off in the pool?

Swimming will fade your tan quicker than usual, chlorinated water will result in your tan breaking down quicker. Limiting the amount of time you spend in the water will help it last longer so we advise topping up your colour after with our Self-Tan Drops or gradual tan lotion after swimming.
